Mud Run

Last weekend Darryl and I did our first mud run. It was called the Defenders Dash and it was in support of all our local heroes. I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about running through the mud. To my surprise, it wasn't just running through the mud. It was swimming in the mud, climbing through the mud, eating the mud, you get the idea. Besides the fact that you get little rocks stuck in your wet, muddy socks that rub your ankles raw, and your front teeth turn brown from the muddy water that somehow splashes in your mouth, it's actually really fun! We ran with our good friends Matt and Nicole. It was really fun to all run together and have some people to laugh with/at.

It started with a 100-yard run carrying a sand bag. This actually was my least favorite part of the whole run because I couldn't figure out how to carry the dumb bag.  Everyone else had it over their shoulder but that felt really awkward to me, so I carried it like a baby.  I know,  you wish you could see a picture of that, but I didn't get one.

There were a few big slides like this one that end in a big muddy pool of water. Good times.

Pay no attention to the mud lip-liner on my husband's upper lip.....

Believe it or not, we totally want to do it again next year!
