At first I wanted to throw a party for him, but he's not really into parties and being the center of attention. So I planned something that I knew he would enjoy more than anything else- a little weekend getaway in Big Bear with his amazing wife. :) We are both discovering how important these trips away are! It's so nice to spend time together without all the responsibilities and stresses of life in the way.

Darryl's partner at work lives up in Arrowhead, so we met him and his wife for dinner. Although Darryl didn't want any special dessert or singing, we did it anyway!

And now for the most exciting part of the trip.....PARASAILING!!!!
I have to admit, I wasn't very excited at first. In fact, I was pretty terrified. I'm not a risk taker/thrill seeker AT ALL, but Darryl was really excited and was pushing me into it, so I decided to just go for it. But I refused to do it alone, so they let us go tandem.
And it turned out to be a lot of fun! I would totally do it again. The view of Big Bear Lake from 600 feet up was pretty awesome.
Back at home, we met Darryl's family at the park to celebrate!

Happy Birthday Darryl! Dang he's old now :) I'll be there next yr, yikes! How fun that y'all got to take a trip w/o the kids. It really is SO important for your marriage!
Does Darryl realize he's wearing a logo/skate shirt? Haha, that's one of the first things I noticed:) Parasailing looks SO fun!!! I want to try it!

Happy 30th Birthday, Darryl! I'm such a dingbat and forgot to call him on his b-day. Sorry! :-( It sounds like your getaway was tons of fun...especially the parasailing. I have yet to try that. Now we need to convince Emily & Spencer to go on a getaway too. They're crazy! Every couple needs to get away--it's awesome!
